Picea sitchensis 'Pevé Wiesje'
Picea sitchensis 'Pevé Wiesje' is a dense globose dwarf selection of Sitka spruce with short, prickly, silver-blue needles on uniform, radiating branches. After 10 years in the garden, one can anticipate a specimen maturing at around 12 inches (30 cm) tall and wide, a growth rate of 1 to 1.5 inches (2.5 - 4 cm) per year. This plant would be a good choice for a formal rock garden or mixed conifer planting.
Origin:
This cultivar originated as a witch's broom found in the late 1990s by Piet Vergeldt of Lottum, The Netherlands, and introduced shortly thereafter by his namesake nursery.
